Meet Kristy
I may look young, but my heart and soul are that of an apathetic senior — when I’m 80 I’ll be in my prime. My closet’s filled to the brim with floral blouses and retro mom jeans, and I have a strong penchant for good coffee, a spirited cab sav, and a frothy whisky sour. Ask me about DW, the duchess puppy, but be prepared to sit for hours scrolling through endless camera rolls of her doing basically everything.
My earliest mentors were Laura Ingles Wilder and Lucy Maud Montgomery. Today that’s expanded to Joan Didion, Norah Ephron, Roxane Gay, and the one and only Fran Lebowitz — all who write prose with flavour and can effortlessly spike a sentence with a dash of humour.
My great (great) grandfather was also a writer and penned his memoir on the very typewriter that sits in my office, so when I’m asked why I decided to become a writer I feel I can truly say it was a perfectly unplanned dose of serendipity — it certainly wasn’t the paycheque.
Previously, I was the Managing Editor of Calgary Citizen, a daily news and lifestyle newsletter reporting on the heartwork and daily life of the city. I am also the Co-founder of Pedestrian Agency where we put our client’s vision and big ideas into words that translate into an impactful brand story.
